Why Do We Exist?

Because, We Care!

On average, every Australian buys 56 items of clothing per year. Most of which are made from non-sustainable, non-durable materials.

Year after year, the fast fashion industry grows. The clothes are cheap, but the quality is low. This is creating a culture of buy more, discard more.

In landfill, decomposing materials can take hundreds of years to break down whilst releasing methane and microplastics into the soil and into our water systems. This industry produces 10% of global C02 emissions which is one of the highest polluting industries in the world.

Yeah, Let that sink in…

At The Upcycled Exchange, we believe fashion shouldn’t cost the Earth. We’re on a mission to transform textile waste into opportunity - giving discarded fabrics a second life through innovative recycling and circular design. From post-consumer clothing to industrial offcuts, we divert tonnes of textiles from landfill each year and turn them into new materials that keep the cycle spinning sustainably.

Our organisation is dedicated to reducing textile waste and providing a solution to our waste crisis.

Here’s how we do it:

  • Repairing & redistributing donated clothing back into the community

  • Upcycling & upskilling our community members to repair and reinvent their wardrobe

  • Providing education around fast fashion trends and how to make more conscience fashion choices

  • Recycling & repurposing textiles into into other products to close the loop
